According to this article http://tinyurl.com/qs9glp the US patent office awarded this patent to Microsoft nearly five years after initial filing. At this point I an can only say that I feel it is on it’s face wrong.
Not to mention that this was granted after after some international organizations (quasi-public at least) already recognized this type of file as a shared standard..so it isn’t like there is difficulty in fashinoning a reasonable and rational position to oppose it.
Some are saying, in comments to the ZDNet article for instance, that there is no way to exert pressure on the legislature to look at this and intervene -I say why give up before you try.
I’m not an expereienced organizer of grass roots campaigns – but I have proven to be a fast study in the past.
