A meeting organized by members of the Non Commercial Users Constituency (NCUC, ICANN) about the role of civil society in Internet policy and in ICANN.

In the Internet governance ecosystem the assignment of domain names gives rise to many critical issues that civil society addresses, such as access, human rights, privacy and others. The organization that is responsible for the domain names system is Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Civil society has a prominent role in making ICANN policies. The Non-commercial users constituency (NCUC) is one of the stakeholder groups that is an avid defender of non-commercial users rights at ICANN. This event will introduce NCUC to organizations and individuals and showcase some of its successes regarding policymaking and impacting policymaking within ICANN. It does so through a series of brief introductions by the active members. It will particularly highlight the importance of privacy policies.
